Airport Workers Day: Celebrating All Airport Employees at AUS
Commercial Airlines, general aviation, air cargo operations, Austin Aviation, concessions, TSA, air traffic control and many other teams all play a vital role in keeping Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) running safely and efficiently, helping passengers reach their destinations every day.
AUS celebrated Airport Workers Day on June 25 by recognizing employees across the airport. Teams distributed treats and other small tokens of appreciation throughout the terminal and surrounding work areas as a gesture of thanks. The celebrations included a proclamation ceremony at the Asleep at the Wheel stage, where Mayor Kirk Watson officially declared June 25 as Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Workers Day in recognition of the critical role airport workers play in supporting the traveling public, driving economic growth, and connecting Central Texas to destinations around the world.
During a period of major transformation through the Journey With AUS expansion program, new job opportunities are expected to grow across AUS in the coming years. In 2025 alone, the program supported 5,000 construction, architecture, engineering, and trade jobs. This local expansion mirrors the broader economic impact of airports nationwide. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) joined airports across North America on June 25, 2026, in celebrating Airport Workers Day, honoring the more than 1.4 million airport workers who support aviation across the continent. Building on that national impact, AUS will open a new Employment Center in 2027, providing job seekers a dedicated space to explore airport careers and available roles.
It takes hundreds of personnel working locally and across the country and millions more across the national airport system, to stay in sync and keep Central Texas flying. We’re grateful for the work our airport workers put in each and every day to make the passenger experience our top priority! They move what matters.
