Airport Workers Day: Celebrating Concession Workers at AUS
Every day, thousands of travelers pass through Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). In fact, there were 21,666,852 passengers that traveled through AUS in 2025, all of whom rely on the friendly faces, quality service, and welcoming atmosphere that make their journeys a little easier and a lot more enjoyable. Behind all these daily positive experiences are the dedicated concession workers who keep airport restaurants, retail shops, and service locations running smoothly.
On Airport Workers Day, we proudly recognize and celebrate the concession workers whose hard work, professionalism, and hospitality help create a world-class airport experience. From early-morning coffee runs to last-minute travel essentials and much-needed fuel before your adventure, concession workers are often among the first and last people passengers encounter during their journey. Their dedication and commitment to friendly customer service help create a unique sense of hospitality in the terminal that travelers associate with AUS.
A Look at Concessions at AUS
AUS offers an impressive variety of concessions throughout the terminal, including 39 food and beverage locations, 17 retail locations, and 16 vending options. Together, these businesses provide travelers with convenient services, local flavors, and a taste of what makes AUS special. Speaking of taste: There were over 1.75 million tacos sold last year!
What makes the AUS concession program particularly unique is its strong commitment to the local community. More than 80% of concession brands at AUS are local concepts, giving locals one last taste of “home” and visitors from around the world the chance to experience authentic Austin food, drinks, products, and culture before they even leave the airport.
Behind every meal served, every shelf stocked, and every customer assisted is a team of hardworking concession employees who keep operations running smoothly. Whether preparing fresh food, helping travelers find the perfect gift, maintaining clean and inviting spaces, or ensuring products are available when needed, these workers play an essential role in the passenger experience.
Recognizing Dedication and Service
This Airport Workers Day, we extend our sincere appreciation to all concession workers across all three prime vendors and all independent vendors at AUS. Thank you for your hard work, your hospitality, and the pride you bring to showcasing Austin's local businesses and culture to millions of travelers each year. Your contributions make a lasting difference, and today we celebrate you.
