The Mountains of Montana are Magnificent

Bozeman and Kalispell are your gateway to the mountains! These new nonstops from Delta Air Lines, launching June 13, will be a first for passengers departing from AUS. Feeling overwhelmed, deciding on what to do when you arrive at Bozeman or Kalispell? Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill – here are some suggestions to get the most out of your outdoor adventures:

Bozeman

Probably the most famous national park of all, Yellowstone National Park is conveniently close to Bozeman with the North Entrance at Gardiner, Montana about an hour-and-a-half away and the West Entrance at West Yellowstone, Montana about two hours away. For Austinites who’ve frequently done the drive to Houston or Dallas, this is nothing. And a lot more scenic! To get to the North Entrance, you’ll drive through Paradise Valley, known for its working cattle ranches and the backdrop for the show “Yellowstone” (please don’t do a Beth Dutton impression on your drive up though). The West Entrance takes you close to Old Faithful, the Grand Prismatic Spring, and other geyser basins.

About an hour from Bozeman is Big Sky Country, a great spot for hiking trails, mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding during the winter, and visiting shops and restaurants in town. The scenic route takes you through Gallatin Canyon complete with dramatic cliffs and mountain views. Even if you don’t have your own ride, getting to Big Sky is easy with busses and private shuttle services that will pick you up right at the airport.

Kalispell

Kalispell is close to Glacier National Park, the Crown of the Continent. Known for its melting glaciers, carved valleys, alpine meadows, and majestic lakes, Glacier National Park is the destination for outdoor enthusiasts. And with over 700 miles of trails, we’d be impressed if you could explore it all in one trip!

For those who enjoy more aquatic adventures, Flathead Lake offers rafting, paddle boarding, and fishing excursions. Not to mention parasailing where you can take in the entire mountain view on the lake! We’re quite partial to the driving tours where you can visit bison ranges.

Bozeman and Kalispell are your gateway to outdoor adventures and exploration of famous national parks! We’re excited for Delta to launch these nonstop routes June 13.
