AUSTIN, Texas – Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) welcomed Cayman Airways as its newest airline partner on May 24, 2026, celebrating the launch of the carrier’s inaugural nonstop service between Austin and Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) in Grand Cayman.

The new seasonal route marks a significant milestone for AUS, providing the airline’s only nonstop service from Texas and expanding international leisure travel options for Central Texas.

Operating on Sundays weekly through August 16, 2026, the new service offers travelers a convenient journey to one of the Caribbean’s most sought-after destinations. The addition of Cayman Airways strengthens AUS’s growing international portfolio while introducing a direct connection to a region known for its world-class beaches, diving, and hospitality.

Flights are operated on Cayman Airways’ Boeing 737-8 aircraft, configured with 160 seats including a Business Class cabin. Passengers traveling on the new route can enjoy a premium onboard experience featuring complimentary meals, free streaming inflight entertainment, device charging at every seat, and Cayman Airways’ signature Seven Fathoms Rum Punch, along with a free carry-on bag and personal item.

Grand Cayman offers visitors a blend of natural beauty and luxury experiences, from the white sands of Seven Mile Beach to globally recognized diving sites such as the Kittiwake shipwreck. Travelers can explore unique attractions, including Stingray City, the Cayman Crystal Caves, Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, and the island’s Bioluminescent Bay. Known as the culinary capital of the Caribbean, the destination also features a vibrant dining scene and duty-free shopping in George Town.

A ribbon-cutting celebration was held at AUS to mark the inaugural departure, which featured a special performance by Cayman's Swanky Kitchen Band and the UCCI Dance Company's Quadrille Dancers.

This event brought together airport leadership, airline representatives, community partners, the Hon. Gary Rutty, the Cayman Islands’ Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Transport, Ayanna Victorin, Cayman Islands Department of Tourism's US General Manager (Acting), and passengers traveling on the first flight.

“The launch of Cayman Airways’ service to Grand Cayman represents another important step in AUS’s international expansion and our commitment to bringing new airline partners to Austin,” said Ghizlane Badawi, Chief Executive Officer of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. “This route not only delivers the only current nonstop access from Texas to the Cayman Islands, but also reflects the strong demand from our passengers for convenient, high-quality travel options to top global leisure destinations.”

“The launch of this new nonstop service between Austin and Grand Cayman has been in development for some time and marks a significant milestone for Cayman Airways and the Cayman Islands," said Ivan Forbes, Cayman Airways Vice President of Airports and Cargo Services. "Austin, in the heart of the Lone Star State, is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic cities in the United States, and we are pleased to introduce direct flights between the capital of Texas and our wonderful Cayman Islands. Cayman Airways, the national airline of the Cayman Islands, brings over 57 years of pre-existing world-class operations and service to this new route, reinforcing its role as a trusted flag carrier connecting the Cayman Islands with key international markets. This service reflects a continued commitment to expanding direct access to and from the Cayman Islands while reinforcing the unique Caymanian hospitality that defines the airline’s passenger experience. We welcome visitors from Austin and its environs to begin and end their vacation experience in any or all of the three Cayman Islands with Cayman Airways, and we look forward to welcoming you on board very soon.”

With the addition of Cayman Airways, AUS continues to expand its global network, reinforcing its role as a key gateway for one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States while connecting Central Texans to more destinations worldwide.
