Southwest Airlines Announces Nonstop International Destinations for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Including New Caribbean Service
AUSTIN, Texas – Today, Southwest Airlines announced three brand-new international destinations for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), with service to Nassau, Bahamas (NAS), Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ), and Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR), beginning June 3, 2027. The new routes mark the latest international expansion for the airport, establishing the only nonstop connection between Austin and these destinations. Southwest also recently announced new seasonal international service to San José, Costa Rica (SJO), beginning March 13, 2027.
In addition to the new seasonal weekend-only international service to Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR), Nassau, Bahamas (NAS), Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ), and San José, Costa Rica (SJO), Southwest Airlines will also offer returning service to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (PVR), and San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU).
The airline has also announced new nonstop service to Savannah, Georgia (SAV), marking the only nonstop service between Austin and Savannah, and included the return of daily seasonal service to Portland, Oregon (PDX). New seasonal weekend service will also be offered to Bozeman, Montana (BZN), Sarasota, Florida (SRQ), and Knoxville, Tennessee (TYS).

Nassau, Punta Cana and Liberia offer travelers from Central Texas new nonstop options to some of the Caribbean and Central America’s most sought-after destinations. From Nassau’s turquoise waters and white-sand beaches to Punta Cana’s tropical coastline and Liberia’s access to Costa Rica’s beaches, national parks and natural landscapes, these new routes make it easier for Austin and Central Texas travelers to experience the region’s diverse destinations and attractions.
The new international service will operate twice weekly on Saturdays and Sundays from June 3 to August 2, giving travelers from Austin and Central Texas more options for a summer weekend getaway.

About Journey With AUS
Journey With AUS is the Austin-Bergstrom Airport Expansion and Development program. The program is a strategic, phased approach to guiding construction and improvement projects, including select 2040 Master Plan projects and near-term improvements to address record-breaking growth at AUS. Journey With AUS projects will improve the passenger experience and meet the rising demand for air service at AUS through optimizing the Barbara Jordan Terminal through improvements that accommodate forecasted demand and enhance operations; expanding infrastructure to increase gates; constructing a new midfield concourse, and connecting tunnel. Driving regional economic recovery and supporting Austin’s growth is a primary goal of the program. The expansion program will make ~$400 million in funding available for small businesses.
