Other important AUS travel tips include:
• Arrive with plenty of time: AUS recommends passengers arrive at the airport 2.5 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international flight. Passengers are encouraged to allow extra time for pre-security screening activities, such as checking bags at airline ticket counters, returning a rental vehicle, or finding a parking spot.
• Stay informed: Travelers are advised to stay in contact with their airline for the latest flight status updates and monitor weather conditions at their destination airport, as weather can impact flight schedules nationwide.
• Check parking ahead of time: Parking demand is expected to be high throughout the holiday weekend. Travelers should confirm parking availability before arriving at the airport by visiting ABIAParking.com or calling 512-530-3300.
⚠️ Please note: There is currently a blackout period for advance parking reservations on ABIAParking.com through August 16. Real-time parking availability information will continue to be available online for travelers before arriving at the airport.
• Dropping off passengers with ease: Passengers getting dropped off may use either the upper-level Departures roadway or the lower-level Arrivals roadway. Travelers are encouraged to choose the least congested level for quicker access to the terminal.
• Getting assistance: Additional airport staff will be working throughout the airport during peak travel days to provide face-to-face support for passengers. Travelers may also contact the Airport Operations Center at 512-530-2242 for assistance.
• Consider traffic conditions: Passengers should allow extra time for potential roadway congestion, remain alert and drive cautiously through active construction zones. Travelers may notice ongoing construction as part of the Journey With AUS expansion program. These improvements are designed to modernize facilities and prepare for continued growth in Central Texas.
• Accessibility and customer service: AUS continues to prioritize accessibility and customer service.

Additionally, here are some important reminders for passengers going through airport security screening:
• Packing appropriately: Ensure luggage, including children’s accessories such as strollers, car seats, and diaper bags, complies with TSA security screening guidelines.
• Remember the 3-1-1 rule: Liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes in carry-on bags must be 3.4 ounces or less and fit within one quart-sized bag per passenger.
• Firearms and prohibited items: Firearms must be unloaded, secured in a locked TSA-approved hard-sided case, packed in checked baggage, and declared to the airline during check-in. Replica or toy weapons resembling firearms or knives are not permitted through security checkpoints.
Passengers who are unsure about whether an item is permitted through security screening are encouraged to visit TSA.gov before arriving at the airport.
